THEME: OPERATION STOP USHER SYNDROME:

Usher Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder caused by a gene mutation. This problems results in a combination of hearing and visual impairment, and is the leading cause of combined deafness and blindness (Deaf-blindness) in individuals worldwide.

Several of the affected individuals end up with total blindness alongside varying degrees of hearing loss or total deafness.

Usher Syndrome spread easily because of mass ignorance and a severe lack of genetic testing and counseling facilities. The Syndrome has no known cure and affects a person's hearing, vision and balance.

Individuals are mostly deprived of their fundamental human rights and locked away in their homes because of the ignorance of their family, teacher, doctors and others about their needs.

Individuals with Usher Syndrome and Deaf-blindness can learn and be successful. We only need to give them the opportunity to visualize their dreams.

  3. This is great things that people should consider doing it more often. Regular check ups in health center really needs to be emphasized for earlier treatment of health issues like this. There is also needs of educating the community about valuing and helping people with Usher syndrome.
