AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS PROJECT BY FAITH NCHOTU NDINYANKA

Project Led by Faith Nchotu Ndinyanka

Hello Everyone,

My name is Faith Nchotu Ndinyanka a young African Change Maker and a Member of African Community Changer's Organization (ACC).

As an Aspire Institute alumnus, I was chosen as one of the Community Action Award winners (CAA). The project to be implemented with this award was Agricultural Education in Schools. This was motivated by the fact that, despite the fact that our economy (Cameroon's economy) is heavily dependent on agriculture (62 percent – 70 percent), the government still spends a lot of money (for example, 150 billion FCFA was spent in 2020 to import corn) to meet market demands.

Furthermore, 7 out of every 10 young people (university students) you meet and talk to about their next steps will tell you about a story they plan to write in order to get a job with the government. Only the remaining three discuss an entrepreneurial venture they are attempting to establish.

This presents a significant social and economic challenge that must be addressed. Many people are working tirelessly to achieve their objectives in order to bring about change. At the end of the day, I hope to make a difference through this project, "Agric Ed in Schools," in which students will be instructed on best agricultural practices by two agricultural experts (1 agronomist and 1 transformational specialist) and exposed to the many opportunities available in this field.

Using this opportunity, I want to extend my heart-felt gratitude to @Aspire Institute Open Dreams, Liyeuk Reynald, Clement Ngosong, Teh Triumph, Tchoupe Channel Mekam, Ing. Cho Augustin, Ing. Djafouam Fredy Njah Kersia, to all the principals and the students.
